Wildfire Grows To 3830 Acres In San Bernardino County Prompts Evacuation Warnings

Wildfire grows to 3,830 acres in San Bernardino County; prompts evacuation warnings

More than 800 firefighters were battling a wildfire that exploded in size to more than 3,830 acres on Monday, prompting evacuation warnings for a mountain community near Lake Arrowhead

CAL Fire said the blaze, dubbed the "Sand Fire," erupted at 1:18 p.m., and quickly tore through vegetation in rugged terrain fueled by 40 mph winds and triple-digit temperatures.

Evacuation warnings were issued for Fawnskin, as gusty winds pushed the fire toward the rural town

By 6 p.m., the fire had more than doubled in size to 3,830 acres

The blaze is burning near the 2020 burn scar from the El Dorado Fire, which scorched over 22,000 acres and destroyed dozens of homes
