Ross Chastain Snags Busch Light Pole At Watkins Glen

Ross Chastain Waters His Way to Busch Light Pole Award at Watkins Glen

Chastain Earns First NASCAR Cup Series Pole

Ross Chastain left the competition in his wake, taking the Busch Light Pole Award for Sunday’s Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International.

Chastain, driver of the No. 1 Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing, laid down a lap of 1 minute, 53.814 seconds at 126.889 mph, the fastest qualifying speed of the weekend.

Race Day Forecast: Significant Rain Expected

With the Busch Light Pole Award, Chastain has chosen to start first, but Sunday's race could be a wet one as rain is expected throughout the day.

The green flag is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m. ET, and 90 laps are scheduled around the 2.45-mile road course.

While rain showers are likely for Watkins Glen during race day, the good news is that weather forecasts are calling for the heaviest downpours to come through early in the day.

With a rainy forecast, Chastain knows that he and his team could face challenges during the race.

But he says the team is ready and is confident they can come out on top.
