Ovechkin Scores 841st Goal as Capitals Beat Canucks 2-1

Capitals' Star Continues to Climb Up NHL's All-Time Scoring List

Vancouver's Late Push Falls Short

Alex Ovechkin scored his 841st career goal in the Washington Capitals' 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night. The goal moved Ovechkin to within five goals of Gordie Howe's all-time NHL record of 846 goals.

Ovechkin's goal came on a power play in the third period. He took a pass from Evgeny Kuznetsov and fired a one-timer past Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko.

Tom Wilson also scored for the Capitals, while J.T. Miller scored the lone goal for the Canucks.

The Canucks had a chance to tie the game late in the third period, but Miller's shot hit the post. The Capitals then held on to secure the victory.

The Capitals' victory snapped a three-game losing streak. The Canucks have now lost four of their last five games.

Ovechkin's goal was his 20th of the season. He is now tied for third in the NHL in goals scored.

The Capitals will host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night, while the Canucks will play the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.
